Befriending and Volunteering Officer (P/T)

Help us create fun, friendship and mutual support  for the whole community

Part-time (22.5 hours/ week) (Salary £23,000 pro-rata)

Time & Talents was set up by volunteers in 1887. 130 years later, we have nearly 150 active volunteers working with us to create a world where everyone feels part of a community. This includes many befrienders, who comprise our much needed Befriending Service for housebound older people in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey.

This fun, challenging role will look after our volunteers and help run our befriending service. You will ensure that everyone who volunteers with us has an good experience, from initial processing of application and DBS, to induction, right through to placement with the befriending service or other projects. Working closely with our Neighbourhood Care Coordinator, and other staff, you will help to recruit volunteers, and place and match suitable befrienders with isolated older people in their homes.

This is a fun, varied job which needs someone who is a real ‘people person’ – from chatting to an older person to introduce them to their new befriender, to inducting new volunteers in a friendly, informative way, or answering calls about opportunities. But it also requires someone who can manage the details of the rigorous administration and processes that are a vital part of having a well-managed service.

Most of all, you’ll need to be someone who is willing to muck in, and wants to become part of the life of a fun, energetic  and dynamic organisation and wider community. This is a great opportunity to work with other people who are passionate about making sure that fun, friendship and mutual support are available to everyone.

To apply, pleased submit a full CV and a cover letter outlining your suitability for the role and what attracts you to it, related to the Job Description and Person Specification. For the JD/ PS and to apply, please visit the Charity Job website

Please note that we will not consider CVs sent without a cover letter
