Volunteers are the lifeblood of Time & Talents. We welcome teams of corporate volunteers to participate in our groups, events and other projects with open arms. Throughout the year, we run social contact groups every day of the week to reduce social isolation and support children, families and older adults in the local community. These groups always enjoy meeting new people from different walks of life, and that’s why we would love your team to come along and support us!

Corporate volunteering brings your team together and brings vital resource to  a small local charity like us. We have a dedicated volunteering programme that will support your team on the lead up to and on the day. Your volunteers will be briefed and supported throughout the activities to ensure that they and our participants  get the most from the experience. Here’s how you can get involved:

Gardening Projects

We are undertaking a series of large-scale gardening projects on our grounds, including the reshaping and revitalisation of our large front garden area (the Marychurch Oasis). We need teams of 6+ volunteers to help, ideally on a Tuesday or Friday to coordinate with our Green Team, but we appreciate the help anytime.

Community Events

We regularly run large events for the community and rely on teams of corporate volunteers to support the staff team in running these at our centre in Rotherhithe.

Volunteering usually includes set up, serving food and refreshments, helping to run activities and generally making sure the older adults, children and families we support have a great time!

Social Contact Groups for Older Adults

Our timetable of groups runs throughout the week and we always welcome volunteers to assist. Your team could help with anything from making sandwiches to running games and activities or supporting our minibus driver. Staff will support your team to understand and plan for any needs the group might have (for example, the VIP visual impairment group).

Children & Families Groups

Our activities for pre-school aged children run late mornings from 10.30-11.30 am and groups for older children aged 6-11 years run after school from 4-5 pm. All of our children’s activities are free to the community and include garden play, arts and crafts and Forest School. Volunteers help children to join in with the activities and most importantly – have fun!
