Time & Talents is an organisation centred around community. We’ve been working with those aged 0-99+ for over 137 years, and we’re proud to offer free and low-cost activities to everybody. A recent grant from Sport England’s Movement Fund enables us to continue this work into 2026. The funding from Sport England means that we can run a variety of diversified activities along with some new ones.

Expanding existing services

In 2026, the money will go towards Mischief Squad, a free dance session for kids aged 6-11 every Tuesday. These classes provide free physical activity for kids at our centre in Surrey Quays.

Our Thursday Walking Group will expand in 2026 to include anyone who wants to go for a walk, aged 18+. We know how important it is to get out and about at a regular time each week, and we’re excited to welcome all adults along to these sessions.

A vital part of T&T, our Wednesday Men’s Walking Group will open up to welcome those living outside Rotherhithe, including Bermondsey and beyond. This group meets weekly for a walk around the neighbourhood that lasts for a few hours.

Launching new activities

After polling people who already interact with our physical activities, we saw three types of new sessions emerge on a wish list for our community. Thanks to this funding from Sport England, we’re excited to bring three new activities to our timetable in 2026.

Fans of Tai Chi will be thrilled to learn that we will be running a weekly Qi Gong session. This moving meditation practice blends breathing with slow movements to improve both physical and mental wellbeing.

If you love dancing, which many of our community members have said they do, then get excited for Zumba. Dance along to funky beats and meet some new friends at this weekly session.

We’ll also be launching padel sessions in 2026. If you’ve ever wanted to try this popular sport, now is your opportunity.

All of these activities will remain low-cost, with free places available for anyone who needs them. Stay tuned via our e-newsletter or WhatsApp community to see when these new sessions start.

Time & Talents is extremely grateful to Sport England for this funding.
