Are you looking for a new way of improving your balance and muscle strength in a supportive environment? We’ve been running Tai Chi classes for the Rotherhithe community for years. These sessions are taught by a seasoned instructor with experience in supporting students of all levels. More than just a movement class, you’ll make new friends and enjoy low-cost weekly sessions at our centre.

We offer two different levels of Tai Chi, so that students of all levels can be supported.
Beginners Classes: Mondays, 11:15 am-12:15 pm at the Old Mortuary. £5 per person with free spaces available for those who need them. At these sessions, the instructor will help you to connect mind and body with a series of gentle physical exercises and stretches.
Intermediate Classes: Mondays, 9:45 am – 11:00 am at the Old Mortuary. £6 per person with free spaces available for those who need them. At these classes, students will build on their fundamental knowledge of Tai Chi and dive deeper into the practice.
“It’s lovely to be able to do Tai Chi locally in Rotherhithe with such a good teacher. I never miss a week!” – Tai Chi attendee.

Instructor Emma Lee brings genuine warmth, passion, and dedication to her Tai Chi classes. As a proud member of both the British Council for Chinese Martial Arts and the Tai Chi Internal Arts Union, Emma is deeply rooted in the Tai Chi community. With more than 15 years of teaching experience, she creates a gentle, encouraging environment where every student feels supported and free to learn at their own pace.
With over 20 years of personal practice in Tai Chi and Qigong, Emma combines rich expertise with heartfelt care. Alongside earning titles as London, British, European, and World champion, she has cultivated a teaching practice built on connection and community. Her classes are friendly, welcoming spaces that help students improve mobility, balance, strength, and mindfulness, nurturing confidence in both body and mind.
Both our Tai Chi classes are taught in the hall at the Old Mortuary in Rotherhithe. Our address is: The Old Mortuary, St Marychurch Street, Rotherhithe, SE16 4JE.
